Michael Lukas Geiges, MD, studied medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, from which he recieved his doctoral degree. During his several years of post-graduate study in psychiatry, surgery, and internal medicine, he was also working as an assistant for the Institute of Medicine at the University of Zurich. Being involved with the Museum of Wax Moulages directed him towards dermatology, and he trained under Professor Günter Burg at the University Hospital of Zurich.
Doctor Geiges is currently working as both a dermatologist and a medical historian. He is in private practice in Kloten (Zurich) and is curator of the Museum of Wax Moulages of the University and the University Hospital of Zurich, scientific co-worker at the Institute and Museum of Medical History of the University of Zurich, and senior physician at the Departement of Dermatology, University Hospital Zurich.
He is a member of the Swiss Association of Dermatology and Venereology and the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences and a corresponding member of the Austrian Society for Dermatology and Venereology. He is on the Executive Board of the German Workgroup for the History of Dermatology and Venereology and the European Society for the History of Dermatology and Venerology. Doctor Geiges is a Member of the Editorial Board of SKINmed.
