Doctor Philip R. Cohen practices at San Diego Family Dermatology in National City, CA. He is also an adjunct Professor of Dermatology at the Touro University California, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, CA. He received his BA degree from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA and his medical degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. Doctor Cohen completed one-year of medical internship, medical residency, and dermatology research fellowship at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School, following which he took his Dermatology Residency at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He completed two more fellowships: Dermatopathology at The University of Texas – Houston Medical School and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the Dermatologic Surgery Center, Houston.
His interests include medical dermatology – particularly cutaneous manifestations of treatment in oncology patients – and mentoring students in writing medical literature. He has about 850 publications.
Doctor Cohen ran 20 Houston marathons and several half marathons. He is married to Dr. Razelle Kurzrock, an oncologist; they have 4 children and, more recently, 3 basenjis–together. He enjoys grilling on the weekends.
