Doctor Lipner is an Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology, Associate Attending Physician, and
Chief of the Nail Division at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, New
York, NY. She obtained a BA in Chemistry, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from
Dartmouth College. She received her MD and PhD degrees from Albert Einstein College of
Medicine and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her dermatology residency
training at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York.
She has held leadership positions in the American Academy of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatologic
Society, and the Council for Nail Disorders. She is President of the New York State Society of
Dermatology and past President of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York.
Doctor Lipner has vast editorial experience as Founding Editor-in-Chief of JAAD Reviews, Editor of
both Scher and Daniel’s Nails: Diagnosis, Surgery, Therapy, and Updates in Clinical Dermatology,
past Dermatology Section Editor of Annals of Internal Medicine, and past Editor of the Nail
Section of VisualDx. She has authored over 465 peer-reviewed publications, numerous books and
chapters, and lectures internationally. The media, including CNN, the Washington Post, and the
New York Times frequently features her observations.
